While these products claim to boost energy or improve health, controversies surround their contents. One recent Internet rumor claimed that Vitamin Water contained antifreeze and that it contributed to the death of a woman in New Mexico. On its face, this claim is absurd. While a woman who died soon after receiving treatment for ethylene glycol poisoning had reported drinking Vitamin Water, she did so because she was already exhibiting symptoms of ethylene glycol exposure. The Vitamin Water had nothing to do with her death and no credible investigation has shown any evidence of a connection.
